Fashion Marketing Scholarship is available to both UK/EU and International students. These scholarships are £500 for UK/EU students and £1,000 for International students. They are offered on “first come, first served” basis.

A limited number of scholarships are available to eligible students who have accepted a place on the BA (Hons) Fashion Marketing Programme for the coming academic year and who are not in receipt of any other scholarship/bursary from WSA. These scholarships are for the first year only.

You must be an international student (non-EU) on the International Business programme at Ealing, Hammersmith and West London College and hold an offer (conditional or unconditional) of a full-time undergraduate degree at the University of Westminster. Criteria: Academic excellence. This scholarship will be for each year of your undergraduate degree, subject to satisfactory academic progress. In the case of courses with a placement year no scholarship is payable in that year as the University does not charge fees.

All new full-time overseas fee paying international students with an offer of a place on an undergraduate or postgraduate programme for 2011/12 entry will be eligible to apply for the scholarships, which will be payable in the form of a £2,000 reduction against the first year’s tuition fees. This scholarship is for new students only; students who are already studying on a degree programme at the University cannot apply for this scholarship.

The Chancellor’s International Scholarships will be awarded on a competitive basis to candidates who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement and potential and the ability to make a significant ongoing contribution to the university community.

Chancellor’s International Scholarships – award criteria

The following information is designed to provide candidates with broad guidelines on the criteria for the award of the Chancellor’s International Scholarship.

It is important to note that this information is intended for guidance only. Scholarships will be awarded on a competitive basis to the best candidates and there is no guarantee that students who meet the minimum requirements outlined below will be successful in the overall competition.

Candidates will be assessed on the basis of the following.

1. Overseas fees status

Candidates must be eligible to pay the University’s full -time overseas tuition fee.

2. Conditional or unconditional offer-holder

Candidates must have applied to the University and have been issued with a conditional or unconditional offer of a place on a full-time undergraduate or postgraduate degree programme for entry in September 2011, prior to applying for a Chancellor’s International Scholarship.

3. Academic achievement

Postgraduate

Successful candidates will be required to achieve the equivalent of a UK First Class or strong Second Class bachelor degree. As a general guide, this would equate to:

Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) marking systems: a score of 3.0 or above (where the maximum score is 4.0), or of 4.0 or above (where the maximum score is 5.0)

Percentage marking systems: the marking scale used in percentage-based grading systems varies widely between countries, subjects and institutions. As a result, when deciding whether a candidate’s grades represent outstanding academic performance, the University’s experience and knowledge of the country’s educational system, of the student’s subject area and of the marking systems used by individual institutions will be taken into consideration.

Where appropriate, the overall ranking of the candidate within their cohort will also be taken into account.

Undergraduate

Successful candidates will be required to achieve the equivalent of 360 UCAS points or above at UK A Level.

The marking scales used to assess performance in school-level qualifications vary significantly between type of qualification, country and individual subject areas. As a result, when deciding whether a candidate’s grades represent outstanding academic performance, the University’s experience and knowledge of the relevant educational system, qualification and marking scheme will be taken into consideration.

4. Personal statement

The information provided by the candidate in their personal statement will be considered alongside the evidence of their academic potential, as assessed through the candidate’s formal qualifications. The personal statement (of no more than 500 words) allows the candidate to demonstrate:

Other achievements or involvement in extra-curricular activities
Relevant work experience
The potential to benefit from the experience of studying at the University of Hertfordshire (UH), and to make a significant ongoing contribution to the UH community.
5. English language

Successful candidates will be required to demonstrate a good level of English Language proficiency, as evidenced by achieving IELTS 6.5 (or the equivalent) or higher. The following will be considered acceptable as evidence that the candidate has achieved the required level of English Language:

IELTS 6.5 or above
TOEFL 580 (PBT) or 92 (IBT) or above
GCSE English B or above

The Scholarships are awarded to students who can demonstrate excellence in at least two of the following areas: Academic qualifications, English Language ability, Understanding of the course and motivation to study at Keele, Extra-curricular or work experience Please note that students studying the 5-year undergraduate degree in Medicine and the 4-year undergraduate degree in Pharmacy are not eligible for this award. A number of Scholarships are available to non UK and NON eu students for undergraduate and taught postgraduate studies in the following subject areas(Biological Science, Biomedical, Chemistry, Computer Science,Engineering, Physics, Geography, Psychology, Sport Science). The Scholarship Scheme is for entry in the Session 2011/12 only. The Scheme applies to international (non-UK and non-EU) studentsmaking applications for a fulltime taught programme of study only and includes students wishing to enter directly into years 2, 3 or 4 of the programme of study. The closing date for applications for Scholarships is 1 September 2011 and Applications should bemade direct to the relevant department or the International Office. No application for a Scholarship shall be considered without the Department having first received either a UCAS application formor an application formfor a postgraduate programme of study. Award of Scholarships is up to amaximumof £1,500 (or £750 for BA Geography) and is at the discretion of the Department. Departmentsmay award a Scholarship subject to satisfaction of any conditions, which it determines appropriate for entry to the programme of study. Scholarshipsmay only be awarded to applicants satisfying general University, Departmental and Programme of Study regulations.

The Scholarship is payable as a credit against tuition fees only, No guarantee of a Scholarship can bemade where an applicant indicates that he/she wishes to defer entry to 2012/13. The Scholarship is awarded per annumfor the normal period of study. No student shall be entitled to a scholarship in excess of the period of study for which they are originally registered. This should be noted by any student wishing, after their first year of study, to transfer to the first year of another programme of study. The continuation of a scholarship after the first year of study is subject to satisfactory performance in assessments and examinations and progression to the next normal year of study. Scholarships are not transferable between Departments.Where a student wishes to transfer to another programme of study in another Department, the new Department is under no obligation to honour the commitment to a scholarship. Any student wishing to transfer to another Department be advised tomake appropriate enquiries of the new Department in advance of any firmdecision to transfer.

Scholarship Application Deadline: 1 September 2011

A generous endowment from Professor Ronald Coase enables us to offer two full fee scholarships per year in the areas of Law, Economics and Business.

Each Scholarship, worth in total more than £30,000, covers the University’s full tuition fees, accommodation costs, and provides for a generous maintenance grant.

Candidates for the Scholarships are required to write an essay, of not more than 2,000 words, on the topic ‘The gentleman in Whitehall really does know best’; and to send this, together with a letter of reference and a completed application form for University admission, to:
